LRON AREA REPRESENTATIVES MAP
Region 1 - 8
(Kunene, Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Kavango West, Kavango East and Zambezi)
Area Representative: Max Tietz
LRON Far North comprises the areas of Kunene, Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena, Oshikoto,
Kavango and Zambezi.
This area is serviced by Erwin Tietz who is based in Tsumeb. LRON Far North was initiated during 2019 with a Promotion Day held at Kupferquwelle Tsumeb and a very interesting Xcross off road track towards the west of Tsumeb at a quarry. A large number of guests were invited and a fun 4x4 time was had by all.
Since the Promotion Day LRON Far North had two more outings one of which took the entrants to Sarasunga Lodge and another was the 2020 Welcome Back Braai that was held at the quarry again.
LRON Far North were instrumental in the organizing of the Battle of the Brands for Cancer event held in Windhoek during October 2019 and some 50 entries were received. The event was held at the Tony Rust Race Track and a fantastic layout was the result of hard work. N$ 50 000 was collected for cancer at this event.
LRON Far North is arranging a Damaraland / Kaokoveld trip during May 2020 and it will be one not to be missed. With good rains expected during the rainy season that area will be a paradise.
Please feel free to contact Erwin Tietz on 081 262 8224 or farnorth@lrovernam.com should you own a Land Rover and live in the area. We also accommodate other make 4x4’s under our Associate Member program.
Region 9
(Erongo)
Area Representative: Natasha van Wyk
LRON Erongo Overview LRON Erongo is managed by Riekie Coertzen who lives in Walvis Bay.
This region is the fastest growing region in LRON and has been host to a number of events since the start of LRON. The first Land Rover Festival for Namibia was held in Uis in 2016 and was organized by Phellazie Simon, who is the area representative for LRON near north and her husband Gerhard who live in Outjo. After the huge success of this event the next one was held in Uis again in 2018 which also turned out to be very successful. Interestingly to note Uis has the most Land
Rovers per capita in Namibia. It must be noted that Uis only has 80 permanent residents. There is also the annual Uis Fly In Event that is held every year which also is a very successful endeavour as well as the Rhino Run.
One of our members from Uis is the well known Basil Calitz who owns the Brandberg Rest Camp. Pay him a visit when you are in the area and he will take you to the water point that was erected at De Rust Farm during 2019. This water point was a joint venture between LRON, DelHra and EHRA. Afritin the mining company that is reinstating the Uis Mine also made a huge contribution towards this project by financing the drilling of a new borehole. Another one of our council members Johan van der Westhuizen also lives in Uis and he is our Environmental and Protected Areas representative and during 2020 a clean up of the Brandberg area will be started under his management.
LRON Erongo or LRON Coastal, as the area is affectionately known, was previously managed by Ockert Botha, who also organized and hosted the Kahn/Swakop River Trip in 2017 as well as a Fun Day outing to the Omdel Dam. The Uis members work very closely together with the area representatives.
Furthermore LRON Erongo also held a Beach Braai, and a Promotion Day in Swakopmund and two Welcome Back Braai’s each in 2019 and 2020. They also did a Sandwhich Harbour trip during December 2019. Land Rover Festival 2020 will be taking place in Henties Bay over the Easter Weekend and will once again be organized by Phellazie and Gerhard Simon in conjunction with the LRON Erongo team. Considering that our area representatives serve LRON on a part time basis they are doing an excellent job in looking after the interests of LRON Erongo.
Should you own a Land Rover and wish to find out more about LRON in this area please feel free to contact Riekie Coertzen on 081 259 8432 or coertzenriekie@gmail.com or erongo@lrovernam.com. We also accommodate other make 4x4’s under our Associate Membership program.

Area Representative: Phellazie Simon
LRON Near North Overview
LRON Near North is run by Phellazie Simon and covers the Otjozondjupa area.
Phellazie who stays in Outjo is very involved with community projects and has hosted a Land Rover Festival Promotion during 2019 in the town of Otjiwarongo. She and her husband Gerhard have been organizing the Land Rover Festival since it’s inception in 2016. Phellazie is a lady who is not afraid to get her hands dirty and has done a clutch change to her Land Rover 130 double cab amongst a number of other major mechanical chores left to her by husband Gerhard who works out on field service all over very remote parts of Namibia.
If you live in this area and own a Land Rover please contact Phellazie Simon on 081 438 7855 or nearnorth@lrovernam.com. We also accommodate other make 4x4’s under our Associate Member program.
Region 11 & 13
(Omaheke and Hardap)
Area Representative: Kobus Vermeulen
LRON East and Near South Overview
Kobus Vermeulen from Farm Butiaba runs this area which entails the Omaheke and Hardap regions. Due to severe drought over the last year or two Kobus opted to take up a position with a major lodge group and him and his wife Marissa runs the Homestead Lodge near Sossusvlei.
Kobus and Marissa hosted the very popular Butiaba Sand Dune Event for the last three years. The event is on the cards again for this year. Butiaba has received a lot of rain over the past months and we can look forward to a super, well organized event this year again.
Over and above the Butiaba events Kobus also co-ordinated the Hoerand Boere Vereeniging 60th birthday event that took place in 2018. This event was held on the farm of Sandrucken in the Maltahoe district.
If you live in the area and own a Land Rover please feel free to contact Kobus on 081 243 7462 or south@lrovernam.com. We also accommodate other makes of 4x4 under our AssociateMembership Program.
Region 12
(Khomas)
Area Representative: LRON Council
Region 14
(Karas)
Area Representative: Ian Relling
LRON Karas Overview
LRON Karas was initially run by the well known Johnny Hanekom who in 2020 handed over theresponsibility to his son in law Ian Relling. A very successful promotion day was held in 2018 in Keetmanshoop at the Schutzen Hotel. Some 40 people from the South attended the event that was presented in the form of a
breakfast after which a trip was done via the Fish River ending at the Naute Dam with a braai at the dam wall.
En route a huge sand dune was encountered on the farm of AP Steyn. Much fun was had as the members attempted to climb the huge sand dune. During August 2019 the Land Rover Trophy Namibia, which alternates bi-anually with the Land Rover Festival Namibia, was hosted by LRON Karas and some 42 entrants turned up for this prestigious event. The first day saw heaps of fun in the form of entrants doing various activities such as potato races, move the ball and a hilarious beer drinking competition with a guillotine like contraption that was strapped on to the competitors back and a glass of beer dangling on a platform. Day two took the competitors to the farm of AP Steyn which was the area for big action. A time trail starting on the banks of the mighty Fish River and running through the river and ending at the huge sand dune that was used during the Promotion Day trip saw major action by all competitors. After the time trail it was time for the Dune Climb where after a Drag Race ended day two of this excursion. The Expedition Class entrants watched the fun and games from the comfort of a beer tent that was erected in the veld. Fantastic sosaties and braai packs, ice cold beer and refreshments were made available to all entrants and a great time was had by
all.
On day three a fairly rough route was followed through the Klein Karas Mountains to Farm Steinfeld which belongs to the very well known couple Johan and Ina Strauss. Here one finds the oldest existing Land Rover workshop in Namibia. It is here where the men or shall I say ladies were sorted from the boys with the Climb the Canyon event, which was the last competitive section of the event. This was really a tough test and once the canyon was conquered all entrants returned to the Schutzen Hotel in Keetmanshoop to attend the prize giving function. The South of Namibia has breathtaking landscape and LRON Karas will be hosting some interesting events in the future.
Should you own a Land Rover and live in the Karas area please feel free to contact Ian Relling on 081 790 2737 or karas@lrovernam.com. We also accommodate other makes of 4x4 vehicles under our Associate Membership program.
