Treasure Chase 2024 (Landy Friend Adventures in support of Wildlife and Environment)

This is an exciting new initiative by our Landy Friends members which will consists of one or more 4×4/ Off-road adventures each year to be hosted in Namibia, it can be in the form of a treasure hunt, 4×4 obstacle competition, camping trip etc. The idea is to accommodate non LRON members with all makes of 4×4 vehicles to join our outdoor activities. All of these events will be competition based to a certain extend and in the end different winners will be declared. Rules for each adventure and competition may change from one year to the next year. Fundraising may form part of the adventures but at least one adventure per year will focus on fundraising.

Our first Landy Friend Adventure In support of Wildlife and Environment will be hosted in Uis this year from 24 to 25 August and will be named Treasure Chase.

The adventure will consist of 3 stages where certain prominent objects must be found on the different stages and photographed with the participant/ vehicle driver as well as his/her vehicle in the photo at the specific object. The participant completing all 3 stages the fastest will be declared the winner but bonus points are also up for grabs to give the slower contestants a chance to win.
Vehicles will be classified in different year models eg. Pre 1980’s, 1981 to 1999 and 2000 and later.

The 3 stages are 30km, 20km and 15km around Uis, all stages must be completed and can take 4 to 5 hours to complete. A 4×4 vehicle with proper ground clearance, camera/cell phone camera and GPS is compulsory. We advise that participants familiarise themselves with the use and functioning of a GPS and GPS coordinates.

Event Program:

Saturday 24 August

• Arrive in Uis at Brandberg Rest Camp during the day. Set up camp/check in and meet and greet.
• 16.00 Depart on a 20km sightseeing and sundowner tour. Details to be finalized.
• 18:00 Dinner: Potjiekos Evening at Brandberg Rest Camp @ 130.00 per person

Sunday 25 August

• 09.00 Documentation and adventure briefing at Brandberg Rest Camp
• 09:30 Adventure starts. Details to be finalized and confirmed.
• 16.00 Challenge ends.
• 18.00 Prize giving at Brandberg Rest Camp followed by dinner – Spitbraai with special breads, salad and pudding @ 300.00 per person.

Monday 26 August

• Depart at leisure.
